The seven thousand islands that make up the sprawling Philippine archipelago are also the tropical world of 88 million of the world's friendliest and most creative people. This is my hometown, the Philippines—a bit lost in the roots and routes of its Southeast Asian neighbors, sometimes crazy and forgetful in affairs of governance, always cherishing and forgiving in human relationships.
